David Stephens, Advisory Board Member for womens leadership and mentoring programDavid Stephens is an Advisor to various individuals and organizations including, Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Founding Member of the Grameen Technology Advisory Board, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (iCircle) and other organizations who are focused on ending poverty and the creating social business solutions for the base of the pyramid, and as the UNHCR says, “basement of the pyramid” which includes the 43,000,000 displaced people who are refugees.

In 1996, Stephens, sold his interests in his computer system integration and software companies and began building and acquiring the technologies, patents, integration capabilities and business relationships that are now part of ConceroConnect.net, a Grameen Social Business. This was done to meet his goals of providing affordable and ubiquitous access to Information, Communication and Technology to help end poverty and create opportunity in even the poorest and most remote areas of the world.

Specialties: In addition to his advisory roles, David is a noted speaker at international events such as the annual World Microcredit Summit, UN events such as the UN 2005 World ICT Summit Conference in Tunisia, SXSW, social impact events and other NGO and University conferences on using technology to eliminate poverty and engage organizations and their employees.
